Education Desk, Jammu : Career counselling plays a decisive role in shaping students’ futures, helping them make informed choices about courses and colleges in line with their interests and abilities.&nbsp;


 


Experts emphasised that timely guidance and access to accurate information can significantly improve career outcomes.

This was highlighted by Rakesh Tayal, Vice Chairman of Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET), during a PM-USP (PMSSS) awareness seminar held in Jammu in collaboration with Sahodaya.


 


The event witnessed participation from over 100 principals of private and government schools.

Tayal underlined that government scholarship schemes for students from Jammu &amp; Kashmir and Ladakh present valuable opportunities.&nbsp;


 


“With the right guidance and course selection, students can not only build successful careers but also contribute to the nation’s progress,” he said. Addressing concerns around Artificial Intelligence, he added that AI is set to generate new employment opportunities, particularly for those equipped with relevant skills.


 


Dr Shakti Arora, Head of Cyber Security at PIET, stressed the importance of reducing the gap between industry and academia. She noted that PIET’s curriculum is aligned with industry needs, enabling students to become job-ready from the outset.


 


Dr Atul Hans, President of Jammu Sahodaya and representative of International Delhi Rising School, said such initiatives empower educators to guide students early in their academic journey.

“Awareness at the school level, especially from senior classes, can make a significant difference, particularly for students in rural areas,” he said.


 


The seminar also featured a panel discussion with Ajit Sharma (CEO), Pradeep Singla (Deputy CEO), KL Dogra (Principal, MV International School &amp; Finance Secretary), Sanjeev Pradhan (Principal, APC Samba School &amp; Joint Secretary), and KC Mehta, among other educationists, who shared their perspectives on career guidance and evolving education trends.
