PehlaPanna, Education Desk, Panipat : The Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) hosted the prestigious National Innovation Award, where 110 teams from across the country competed. The top prize was awarded to a team from Vidya Ashram Pratap Nagar School, Jaipur, for their groundbreaking invention—a life-saving smart shoe. The winners were honored by Dr. Kiran Bedi, former Governor of Puducherry and India’s first female IPS officer.The Life-Saving Smart Shoe:The winning team, led by Atharav from Jaipur, designed an innovative shoe equipped with a GPS, camera, and spark system. This smart shoe can prevent attacks and gather evidence. In an emergency, it allows the wearer to send an SOS to three contacts with a foot-activated button.&nbsp;Additionally, it records photos and videos of the assailant. Atharav conceptualized this idea in response to a tragic incident in Kolkata, aiming to enhance women’s safety. The prototype has already been tested successfully on 100 individuals in Jaipur.Dr. Kiran Bedi’s Inspiring Message: Dr. Bedi emphasized the importance of encouraging children to innovate and patent their ideas, stating that national development hinges on such initiatives. She highlighted her Navjyoti Foundation’s role in providing skill education to underprivileged children and announced a collaboration with PIET to offer AR-VR training.Support for Startups: PIET Vice Chairman Rakesh Tayal assured that all innovative projects would be forwarded to relevant ministries for further development. He reiterated PIET's commitment to supporting student startups. PehlaPanna.com</figcaption></figure>Other Award-Winning Innovations:Second Prize: SGT Gurgaon’s team created a portable pocket microscope for on-site forensic analysis, reducing dependency on lab results. Third Prize: Delhi MSIT’s "Saarthi" project developed a radar-based system to prevent road accidents. The event saw participation from over 400 students and featured dignitaries, including PIET Chairman Hariom Tayal and Board Member Shubham Tayal.&nbsp;Dr. Shakti Arora, Head of the Cyber Security Department, explained that the National Innovation Award was organized by the Startup Cell and Incubation Center. The event received support from Navjyoti Foundation, Vikhyat Global, Kanan, Pickle, and Schools Ally. Director Dr. Shakti Kumar emphasized the importance of patents and creativity in fostering innovation.
